ADVISORY FAMILY GROUPS
Purpose – create small family groups within the high school that provide peer and adult support and encouragement for our students.
Family groups will consist of 1 certified faculty member and no more than 20 students.
Our goals are to:
Students will meet with their Advisory Group a minimum 1 time a month. Topics of discussion will be based on recommendations from the Teacher Advisory Group.
Advisors will work with and assist their fellow teachers and school administrators to help those students not meeting the goals of his or her group.
Advisors will document and track the progress of each student under their supervision and related to the family group goals.
It is my honor, as high school principal, to serve parents, guardians, students, and the community members of Lamar. At Lamar High School, we are so proud to offer a large variety of courses, programs of study, and extracurricular activities that meet the needs of our students. At the same time, we are also proud to offer a “small school atmosphere” in which every student is cared for, attended to, and made to feel like that special individual person he or she is.
Lamar School District is now using the Home Access Center (HAC) to provide parents and guardians access to a web portal in order to see your students’ class work, attendance record, discipline progress reports, etc. HAC also provides e-mail links, so parents can easily communicate with the school and teachers.
One of our primary goals for the 2016/2017 school year is to improve communication between faculty and parents.
A major problem we had last year was that our teachers were not receiving your e-mails because our server was sending them to their Junk E-Mail folder.
Under the Faculty tab at the top of our high school webpage, you will find all faculty e-mail addresses. Our office contact information can be found under the Contact Us tab.
Please "CC" me any correspondence you have with a faculty member. If you do not receive a response within two working days, please call or text or e-mail me immediately! You should expect to see current grades and attendance by the end of the working day on Tuesday of every week.
